Once you've identified the correct construction and standards, we can supply your MV cables against your project timelines - whether that's as an urgent requirement coming direct from stock, despatched same-day, or manufactured and delivered against your schedule, via our fleet - including using hiab self-offloading vehicles where needed.

Our MV cables are available in specific lengths as well as in extended long lengths to aid installation and to reduce the number of joints. Accompanying cable accessories, with the cable size calibrated to match seamlessly, can also be provided.

Custom designed Medium Voltage cables

For efficiency and longevity, every MV cable should be tailored to the installation but there are times when a truly bespoke cable is needed. Our MV cable experts can work with you to design a solution that matches your requirements. Most commonly, customisations affect the area size of the metallic screen, which can be adjusted to change the short circuit capacity and earthing provisions.

In every case, the technical data is provided to demonstrate suitability and the specification honed for manufacture. All customised solutions are subject to enhanced testing in our MV Cable Testing Facility.

CONSTRUCTION

1 Conductor

Plain circular, compacted or shaped stranded copper or aluminium conductor, conform to IEC 60228 class 2.

2 Insulation

XLPE ( cross-linked polyethylene ) rated at 90 °C.

3 Colours for core identification

Single core - natural ( black on request )

Two core - red, black

Three core - red, yellow and blue

Four core - red, yellow, blue and black

Five core - red, yellow, blue, black and green/yellow

4 Assembly

Two, three, four or five insulated conductors are laid up together, if necessary filled with non-hygroscopic material compatible with the insulation. The filling may be omitted provided the outer shape of the cables remains practically circular and no adhesion occurs between cores and sheath.

5 Sheath

PVC type ST2 to IEC 60502, colour black.

Medium Voltage cable testing facility

Given the critical nature of the infrastructure connection created with MV cables, reliability, quality and compliance are vital. To provide the necessary assurances of this to both electrical engineers and their end-user customers, we test our MV cables in our specialist testing facility.

Our MV facility is an extension of The Cable Lab where we undertake tests on cables of rated voltage 3.3/6.6kV and upwards. This includes key tests such as the cable integrity withstand test, also known as VLF testing to determine any failure in the sheathing material. It provides comprehensive quality assurance on British Standard and European/IEC standard MV cables, armoured or unarmoured, as well as industry-specific MV cables such as DNO 11kv and 33kv, and Network Rail trackside power 25/44kV.

Packing:

--100m/Coil with Shrinking Film Wrap, 6 Coils per outer carton.

--100m/Spool, spool can be Paper, Plastic, or ABS, then 3-4 spools per carton,

--200m or 250m per Drum, two drums per carton,

--305m/Wooden Drum, one drum per outer carton or pallet loading,

--500m/Wooden Drum, one drum per outer carton or pallet loading,

--1000m or 3000m wooden drum, then pallet loading.

*We can also offer customized OEM packing according to clients' request.

Port: Tianjin, or other ports as per your requirements.

Sea freight: FOB/C&F/CIF quotation are all available.
